was sitting in a hotel room in Hawaii whilst his girlfriend was attending a month-long yoga retreat.

Was he on the beach paddling boarding with his dog?

No, he was hacking Gmail's interface with the
MVP. By the end of that month, he launched.

And
just hit $130k MRR, how?

This posts explains...

YC's
lecture series is actually pretty awesome.

There is one talk by an English, ex. head of Facebook growth that spoke about something called the "Magic Moment":

He says that the Magic Moment is the point at which someone really understands the value of the thing you are building.

Pre Magic Moment, people churn.

Post-Magic Moment people stick.

There is a graveyard of SaaS tools that have generated users for their free trial, they login once...

And are never seen again.

This is because those users have gone into your product and either can't work out how to get value from it, or don't think they can get value from it.

The British Facebook man was saying that in order for new Facebook users to become sticky they had to make 10 friends in 14 days on the platform (e.g. their Magic Moment).

ANYWAY

Coming back to
.

He is clearly aware of this phenomenon.

As when you install
process, a draft email pops up with a pre-loaded Mail Merge that you can send:

He knows that if a new user hits that send button and then checks their Sent folder to see an individual email sent to all of those different people...

They are significantly more likely to send their first Mail Merge with
and then presumably are significantly more likely to upgrade to a paid plan.

Ajay has made it INCREDIBLY simple for me to experience what
does.

As a new user, I now know how it works and how I can get value from the product two clicks and 10 seconds installing the product.

So what did we learn?

You need to really understand what your users need to experience in order for them to know how your product can help them... and get them there ASAP.
